Cam Chain Tensioner Question was created by that chris kid
Hey guys,
Im sure most of you have heard of or seen this manual cam chain tensioner by APE.
kzzone.com/sprockets.html
Before I Buy it, I wanted to ask a few questions.
first off my bike is an 82' KZ750 N1 (spectre). I just replaced the cylinder head and in the process found that my chain tensioner is kinda junky. Ive been experiencing some chain noise too but nothing that alarmed me, mostly just at idle. It'd be nice to get rid of it though.
I was wondering if the APE tensioner is a good idea for a normal/daily use bike. Is it going to cause any extra or abnormal wear on the chain guides? Also, how tight should i have it? Finger tight? or maybe finger tight and back off 1/4 turn? i'm not sure.
What are your experiences with manual tensioners?
Thanks in advance.
Chris

I made my own tensioner but that one is good and will not wear out the cam chain roller guides. Adjust it like they say and if the valve cover is off u can see how it works to do it like ape says. It's a very good tensioner, just very ugly.
