Be careful scraping the sealer crap off. I pack rolled up paper towel pieces along the edges to keep the junk from falling down when I do it.

I told him no thanks, this is how grandpa showed me how to do it and my stuff doesn’t leak. Another guy at the counter said yup, that’s how he does it too.
I’d like to hear from you guys on whether you use anything on the gaskets or not.

While you got that cover off it would be a nice time to start polishing it. I would say. But I guess I am a kz geek.

If they are old, they will probably leak unless you run a thin line of gasket sealer across the tops of the plugs and onto the edge of the head next to it. I use the HI-Temp black stuff, works very well.Thank you guys. I will just scrape off the old stuff and apply the gasket dry. Do any of you use a little sealant on the rubber cam plugs?
FYI, are you reusing the old gasket? If so, I would seal it. If it's new and the two surfaces are clean and smooth, it should seal along the aluminum areas. The stupid rubber plugs like to leak, especially at the corners next to the aluminum.
