I have a KZ750N that I would like to install drag pipes on.
Has anyone done this? Pictures? The intake and exaust are currently stock. Any suggestions of a starting point for jet sizes with drag pipes and ind. intake pods installed?

Straight pipes and pod filters?

I would venture a silly guess as to main jet sizes needed probably about four or five sizes larger than stock.

I can't guess about pilots or needles because I am pretty sure this setup will never run right across the operating range no matter what you do with those.

Good luck

do you mean a drag race megaphone or individual head pipes by them selves.

Just removing the stock mufflers on each side and replacing with a 2 inch custom pipe with baffles inserted. Does any one have a starting point on the jet sizes?

Can't help you on the jet size but keep us informed on how the custom pipes perform and sound.

How long is the 2" custom pipe and are you keeping the stock airbox after all?

youre probably not going to be real happy with the sound i run open head pipes on my hillclimber and it sounds really flat it doesn't sound anywhere as good as the megaphone on my dragbike as far as jeting goes you probably wont have to go bigger in fact you might even have to go smaller, just a head pipe alone won't flow that well. the only reason most guy's that run a hillclimber use open pipes is that they are cheap and easy to replace when you crash or case the bike on some rock ledge.it's definitly not because of flow or performance.

I know this was from a month ago... but I have pods and 2" pipes on mine. I am about to order a set of 145 and 150 secondary mains and 70 main.

I do not know if this is correct but my bike is running lean on cold days. Ran great today but it was about 70. Nice for Jan. I'll update when I get them installed.

I like the sound...

That's just cruel.... we are still enjoying the "new normal" winter weather out here in beautiful California. You know.... the new climate we get stuck with after climate change. Now it is so stinking cold during the winter that I long for the arctic.

It was 42 degrees at 5 PM and right now at 10PM the thermometer is at 34. Going down to the upper twenties tonight......

Of course the frigid new winters are offset by the new blistering hot summers we get fried with the other six months of the year. And of course the endless wildfires resulting from those hot months....

I just got back from a ride with my larger jets in. I installed a 70 main and 115 secondary main. Stock was 65 main and 90 secondary.
Man, the life came back in this old Kaw! It felt good when I pulled the throttle and I had to hang on without the hesitation.

Thanks for the feed back on the jet sizes and pipes. Did you use the stock headers and run the 2" pipes from the collector on each side?
