ok.i drained the oil and went to put the plug back in and lo and behold the threads are DONE :( i used a 17 mm wrench to take out the bolt so i would assume that this was an issue before as i believe the stock one is 12mm. which way should i approach this dilemma

i was inspecting the clutch basket and noticed this, please click on video

The play at the clutch basket is the cumulative play between the crank and the clutch basket.

That is the play in the primary chain between the crank and the secondary shaft, and the play between the secondary shaft drive gear and the clutch basket driven gear.

Short version:

Nothing to worry about.

Several methods of repairing your oil drain plug problem, simplest way is to replace the oil pan, harder way is to remove the oil pan and have a new drain made and welded on.

Probably other ways I didn't mention.

By the way, where are the other six replies the board says should be here??? :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

This is plumb weird!

Just typed an answer to a question in the Engine forum, clicked "Submit" and ended up here in this thread.

Just edited my original post in the other thread asking where the six replies are that the board says have been posted, clicked "Submit" and here I am again!!

It's Official, This board has gone totally wacko!!! (Wacko is a highly technical term, may find it in a Highly Technical Dictionary).

By the way, this thread doesn't exist, so you all can just kiss my big toe!!

My drain plug stripped out years ago. I removed pan and drilled, tapped for a 14mm oversize plug. Works great. Of course as steell says while pan is off you could also just replace it too. Plenty of them on ebay. :)

lol    i was thinking about changing the pan buuut not all 750 pans come with provisions for an oil cooler as you may well know :silly: I've seen other people use the timesert thingy buut that's pricey.they tell you that you need all that stuff to install it but i was looking at the video and all you really need for a stripped drain plug is the insert a drill bit the tap and a new drain plug, why would you need to counterbore it, nothings mating up against it? am i right?
