replacement pistons was created by Bdog
Is there any way to get a replacement piston from Wiseco for an 810 kit. I opened the motor and the dome is all pitted, I would guess from detonation, but only one piston. Does that sound right?

I believe Wiseco sell all the parts individually, pistons, rings, pins, even circlips.

Call them.

For the record: would some pitting hurt anything? The new pistons I installed were very rough finish on the top, I remember sanding them smooth (er) for fun and looks. Would it make any difference if the top had pits on it?

The pitting should not hurt. They will end up covered with carbon anyways. This is just on top right?
It would be good to try and find out what caused the pitting.

If the valves and stuff dont look bad, then I'd try goin up a size or two on your carb jets, sounds liek a lean condition. Or another thing, are you using supreme gas? Should switch to supreme after going up in compression ratio.

If the pitting is occuring on only one piston crown, is the jetting too lean on only the one cylinder? If the octane in the gas he is using is too low, wouldn't there be pitting on the other piston crowns as well?

I would have to look at what you are calling pitting. If it is indeed pitting from a lean conditioin, I would expect the carb holder to be the culprit... allowing air to hit the piston crown and focus heat in that location.

Thats right, I wasn't thinking George. You're right, somethings causing a lean condition in just that one cylinder.

Thanks for all the ideas, here is what I know of the engine. Used and it had an 810 kit in it and new dyna coils and dyna s ignition plate for $220. I would like to get a picture up of the piston. Gonna take it to shop that I trust tomorrow. The new pistons are $135 a piece with rings and that ain't bad for what I have in the motor. The carbs that I got were kinda sh%&*y looking Mikuni CVS like the the ones on GPzs. BS34 I think. The cylinders don't look bad but I will prolly get them honed and pretty, or is that a bad Idea. The head was ported all to hell and It is a shame because Its the 650 head with the cool cam cover adn smaller compression chambers. The idea is to use this top end on my 750 bottom end that was good other than leaky base adn head gaskets and was dying for a big bore. Also picked up some jetted Gpz750 carbs (the black ones) and the kz750 motor already had gpz cams in it so it oughta really fly now. any tips or tricks for fitting these pistons would be great, taking them out of the old motor was kind of a pita.

if your putting fresh rings in it id hit it with a ball hone just to knock the glaze of the cylinder.

I was only planning on replacing the fouled piston and rings. Not all four sets of rings. Is that unwise, and why? I was just gonna hone the one cylinder and everything else should be like changing a base gsket, yes? There was very little use of the pistons, very little carbon on the domes, and it just wiped off. Please correct me if this sounds crazy. I don't have a boat load of money to throw at this motor, and the new piston is money allocated for other aspects of the project. thanks
