Crankshaft Welding. Need help, Jay, ???

I have the crankshaft for my kz1000 all boxed up and ready to ship out and have welded. Less than a week ago, i contacted ape about how they wanted it packaged, etc. They told me just to pack it up pretty tight and send it to their address with a note of what all i want done. I called them again today and i was told that they no longer weld crankshafts. What????? Where else am i going to send it? Falicon charges $250, where ape was only charging $90. I contacted a guy here in south dakota who is big into the old kaws and he no longer welds cranks either. Does anyone else know of any places that will weld my crank, number, price???

fast by gast prices are pretty reasonable and turn around is awesome all they do pretty much is hotrod stuff so they can pretty much do it all and i've had good luck with them when ever i've been in a jam.

actually i just remebered another guy who might be able to help he's from billings mt. big into hillclimbers and dragbikes [kz stuff] pete loomis from loomis performance i had his phone number but i can't find it i'll look for it tommorrow.

thanks alot for your help with this, but i just sent it to gardner racing concepts in maine. About $100 to get it done, and another 100 for shipping both ways.

Sorry for the late response. We were in the midst of changing welders and I wanted to make sure the new guy could do it correctly before I responded. He can.

However, you certainly can't go wrong sending them to Gardner too.

I knew you did a lot of machine work on motors but I didn't know you did cranks. That's good to know!

Shannon Clem of Old School Racing, a KZRider member, can help you out. He races out of his Father's Kaw dealership and they are big-time into KZs and they know how to weld a crank and will give you a good price. You can look up the dealership by doing a Google search on "old school racing".
