Just be careful if you go to a longer arm. The longer the arm you use, the better rear tire you are going to need. 77KZ650 is right with what he says. If you go much longer then stock, get yourself a very god tire...it reallt makes a difference!

if you get too long of a swingarm you take too much weight off rear tire and it will go up in smoke.i try not to go more than 3" over and lower it as much as possible for a streetbike, some of those guys with 10-12" over on the arm dont even look like bikes in my book but as long as they are happy !;)Racer whats the length on you arm? looks like a good happy medium!oh what am i saying that bike is flat out beautifull! B) B) B) B) B)

The swingarm is an 8" over arm. The tire on the bike in that picture is a 8" M/T slick with some grooves cut into it so it looks like a street tire going down the road. LOL Put a 180 Avon on there now but haven't had chance to test it!!! It that doesn't work out, then maybe a 17" wheel and a Shinko Ultra-soft. This long of a swing-arm needs a soft tire. Will probably switch arms to a swingarm with shocks so it's easier on this old behind. Fast, but rides like a tank with struts!

ive run struts before on a streetbike, youre pretty much at the mercy of back tire for suspension!:S i prefer shocks anyway, makes it easier to transfer weight to rear tire unless of course youre running a bar than you are stuck with struts.did i mentio thats a beautiful bike?i put ol blue back up on my avatar as a motivator for my current project!B)

Get out in the shop and get to workin' on that thing!!! We all want to see some pictures of your progress. You can get by somewhat with struts with a slick because the sidewalls flex some but a street tire sidewall is very unforgiving. Need shocks to let the rear squat and plant the tire. Oh...did I mention it's easier on an old behind...not to mention the back and everything else in that area?

yes you need a good tire if you stretch it out. i run a 190 shinko ultra soft @ 8 -10 psi. DOT approved. no problems hooking at the track (note the front end in the air) but it will light it up without even trying on the street. (i do have around 180 hp on just motor tho ;) ) if you run bars, you must have a slick. no way around it if you have any power at all.
im 8.5 inches longer, but with my 6 inch longer tail section, it looks pretty good imo (it will look better when its painted the right colour tho!)

Always wondered what air pressure is run in a Shinko. Lots of guys I see are running up around 20-25 psi in theirs. I always thought that would round out the tire too much and not have much for a footprint but it seems to work. I was told to run that pressure but thought it should be less. BUT...beings as I don't have one, they know more than I. Something to keep in mind. What does that arm put you at....about 66" wheelbase?

i had to rake both of my dragbikes for pipe clearance to keep the frontend from crushing the pipes .i am using stock trees forks and wheel.on my shoot out bike i used the frontend off of a 1991 1100 katana so it had alot tighter head angle and i'm using the gold label pro-stock pipe on it so it runs a lot bigger primary tube diameter so i definitly had to rake it besides i like the look. so really thats all that counts. also it makes the bike handle really good at high speed. so there

on a streetdriven bike running the rear a little lower than the front has same affect as raking front end a little and is easy to adjust depending on conditions.B)oh yeah id suggest running on the motor for a while and working the bugs out of the chassis and motor before you worry about putting the juice to that thing, you might be really shocked what a differance a big inch motor makes in a traction/handling challenged stock chassis .youre heading into a totally differant league !B)

i could run more psi on a better track, but my local one isnt the greatest. yes im around 65-66 inches. my tire flatten out a lot on the launch, uses most of the tread, but still doesnt flatten out completely. i probly get a 5.5 inch wide contact patch. the MCR hooks about the same if not just a bit better, and is a bit lighter but its a lot more money
