Throttle Lock for a KZ? was created by ltdrider
Don't know if the Engine Forum is the right place for this...
Does anyone know what brand/model will fit, and will work with the two-cable system?
I want to let go of the twist grip sometimes when my carpal-tunnel acts up.

The Vista Cruise has been used for years.

www.crc2onlinecatalog.com/Index_Main_Frame.htm

Click on ACCESSORIES on the left side of the screen, then choose GENERAL ACCESSORIES and scroll down to the bottom of the page. The bottom one is for 1 inch bars, the one right above it is for 7/8..... $22.95!!

I was looking for a cruise control aslo. The old throttle lock I had worked on stock bars but since I have the superbike bars I ran out of room to mount it. Anyone have a throttle lock for a superbike bar setup?

Does the Vista Cruise have to be installed crammed between the grip and housing? That's how I remember them back in the old days. I'm not sure if mine was Vista Cruise or not, but with this setup, your throttle will never spring back because the fit of the cruise control between the grip and housing is too tight. This might be able to be overcome, or maybe not a bother at all, but it bothered me. The other problem is there are really no roads flat enough to use the cruise for more than 30 seconds or so at a time.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I had one on my KZ750 many years back that installed on the right handgrip and clamped it lightly. It would hold the throttle in place but you could move it if you had to. I think I got mine from JC Whitney?

I use both a Vista Cruise and a Cramp Buster on mine cause of severe arthritis.

www.crampbuster.com/

www.casporttouring.com/thestore/Vista-Cruise.html

Both work well...... I even found the Cramp Buster fits on my new grips.:)

I agree with Ron here. I have a vintage (not plastic) Vista Cruise on my 550. I got it because i also had carpal tunnel issues. Problem is there isn't a flat stretch of road more than half a mile long anywhere around me. These things are not cruise controls, they are throttle locks. First hill you come to (about every 3.4 seconds around here) you have to adjust it or flip it off, flip it on. It got to be a bigger pain in the rectum than it was worth. I ended up having the carpal tunnel release surgery, best move I have ever done. Riding is FAR more enjoyable now.

i have a vista cruiser on the 1100.
great for a trip but scary local.
just be sure you really want it before you you use it.
i like the cramb buster better.
carpal tunnel

btw, any one else who might have carpal tunnel notice how much your hands and forearms get tired after awhile?

I use both,Vista-Cruise,and a Throttle-Rocker.
Not so much the Throttle-Rocker,but the Vista-Cruise is a MUST for me...just to be able to pull the throttle-hand off and give it a shake,to get the cobwebs out,it's perfect!

I pull the Throttle-Rocker off and tuck it away when I'm playing, but for longer rides,it comes in handy.B)

Don't mean to hijack the thread but just wanted to make a comment to Kawasakiman. I know exactly what you mean about tired hands and forearms. What pushed me to get the surgery was the numb fingers 24/7. Mine were bad enough I couldn't button my shirt or pick coins up out of my palm to make change in the store. I don't know what you do for work and I guess what I do isn't all that physical, but I had my surgery on Friday and was back at work on Wednesday. Doctor told me I could not "Undo" the surgery in any way. Surgery took 6 minutes and 9 stitches to close the incision. I was in and out of the hospital in about 3 hours. That was about 4 years ago and if I ever have problems with my other hand I know right where I'm going.
