The small Eatons are the same type as this. The difference is in the lobe design which has a twisted helix design instead of straight lobes. The twist increases the compression.. pressure... boost... power. It would not take a huge amount of engineering to adapt one, just some machine time. The manifold does play a HUGE role in delivering the pressurized mixture to the cylinders, but that would only provide peak performance. Let's face it, even a poor design would be inefficient and still add 100+bhp.

This applies to the new Magnuson's since they use Eaton rotor packs. Magnuson design's and gineeres the housings, drive units and manifolds which are extremely important in the efficiency of the kit. He does not make bike kits at this time, only automotive stuff. OH.. I'm referring to Jerry Magnuson and Magnuson Products Inc. He is the originator of the magnuson kit, but sold off the motorcycle stuff some time ago, and to my knowledge, the motorcycle arm is not producing anything now?? Maybe a Harley package.

The supercharger setup itself puts your bike in a very small class of unique KZs. To top it off, you have an unbelievably pristine bike!

That is a class act if there ever was one!

I'd love to see more pics of that bike;)

Nice peice of hopup history. Thanks for keeping it up Super.

Having some additional engine/intake management would be a bas ass experement. Your chassis would need to be hopped up to handle it. ;)

Probably freaks out the kids when you stomp away from them on the freeway as it stands.

It idles at 2,500, so the best comment that I get is when pulling into a dealer.... and it has happened several times.

Usually the young salesperson will comment on how the bike sounds like crap. Between the high idle and supercharger's whine... they think it is a gonner...

I usually reply to those who suffer the proper education... yeah, it's all f'd up, maybe you'll take it on trade.:cheer:

I believe that one HERE predates his attempt at the KZ. I also 'believe' the norton supercharger is not root-type, but centrifugal.

Interesting that someone would actually by one of those, since the articles (several on the net) are not very pleased with the unit.

I was one of the unlucky ones that unfortunately got screwed by Tom Drouin. Bought the kit for $ 999 and the guy would send out some parts every month. Never did receive even half of them. After a year I had enough, hired an attorney, reported him to the postal inspectors office and had a long talk with his advertisers. Needless to say - I got squat.

The Drouin blower was a smaller displacement blower than the Magnuson unit (which I ended up purchasing after my experiance with Drouin). Both kits are drivin off the clutch as the OP stated. The only changes that I did to the clutch basket was weld it at the rivet points which was highly recommended.

"There was a guy on here that had a Z1R with a big block/supercharger combo and he said he got 300hp."

Yeah - That would be me. Here is a link to a previous discussion that might be of interest to everyone

Displacement of Drouin's was probably less, but the fit is what caught my eye... and evidentally yours.

Sorry to hear you were one of the MANY that never received a full unit. Drouin had the right plan, just no capital to back him. I think the fact that I lived in New Jersey and made phone calls often to him, may have helped the delivery process for me.

I now see Jerry Magnuson a few times a month, and if anyone has a KZ Magnuson Supercharger, he would like to purchase it (even if not working) for his collection. He sold off the bike division and they don't do the KZ scene.

I'll take a read to your thread next.
