If I order a kit, is there a reason not to get the largest over bore size available, assuming it's just for a daily-driver type project?

Totally up to you for what you're wanting to do...
For me, this was a no brainer, I'm 49 (soon to be 50). I don't need the fastest bike out there nor do I plan on racing this bike nor do I plan going 140mph. Just wanted a dependable & strong running motor.
Above the 1015cc on a KZ900 this would require grinding of the case for the cylinder sleeves and this was something I just wasn't interested in. I also had the option to obtain a 1000cc cylinder, again, just wasn't really required.
I figured for the extra 60cc, just wasn't worth it to me for what I require.
Basically I needed a cylinder anyways due to broken fins. If I used the original I would need to get it bored & honed. Hell, basically got a brand new cylinder already set up so I actually saved $$$ this way.

OMR, how long did delivery take on yours? I'm not in a rush for sure but would like to know anyway. Also, I've been thinking about ignition systems as the advance curve surely should be different with the higher compression. Back in the day, I ran the stock advancer set up and didn't have any problems. I had all the goodies in that motor and it really ran strong. Still, I've got to wonder what 30 years of technology could do for this motor. I've looked at the Dyna programmable system and they have a curve for 2 valve, high compression motors. That's it for now, ride safe, Steve

For everything I could find in researching this subject this should not be a problem....I'm doing a little second guessing right now on whether this kit is a "drop in" for my '74 900
