im refering to the to bolts inside the head under the cams. they appear to support holding the head to the block it's a 10mm bolt. i've already sheared on off and managed to get it out by the grace of all things good and holy. it's part#92002-1881 if that helps.

this is for the cam cap bolts that hold the cams in place under the valve cover right?
if i remeber right i belive i read on here that most people are setting them a 7 ft lbs! DO NOT over tighten them they will strip out!!
be very, very carful as they strip out very easy.
i am also doing this on my 77kz650b1, and just bought a new torq wrench just for the cam cap bolts so i know they will be accurate (among other parts to). i dont want to have to tap them out to 8mm and all that fun stuff!!!!!

The torque spec for the two cylinder head bolts (one under each cam sprocket) is 16 - 20 ft.lbs / 22 - 27 Nm.

Actually they´re 6 mm bolts with 10 mm heads.

Well that IS a 6 by 43mm bolt, and I'm pretty sure you ARE referring to a cam-cap bolt.
But you say it's "Under the cams" ???
Do you mean that it's under the valve-cover?

The bolts below the cams securing the head to the cylinder are 16-20ft/lb according to clymer. I wouldn't personally go that tight on a 6mm bolt myself.

THAT much torque on a 6mm bolt??!!

I didn't know the 650 had those 2 bolts there,but wholly...that's a lot of torque for that bolt,no?

What HE said!
It wasn't that long ago, that I read here where another member went by the "Clymer" manual, and stripped cam-cap bolts...remember that,Ron?

Make SURE,before torqueing that bolt THAT much...seriously.

i just put them down to snug there is know way those bolts were gonna handle that. i just went by feel cause i was startin to get that icky feelin deep down that one more quarter turn and it would be off with the head and out with the drill i can only assume that they are not nearly as crucial as the exposed bolts on the head

On my engine(KZ1000),there are 2 outter 6mm bolts on the head, that thread into the block, and they get torqued to about 7-8 foot pounds, and I would bet my ass that if I torqued them to 16 foot pounds,I'd be strippin em.
