It was firing on 2 & 3 but I checked and I have no compresion on cylinders 1,2,4 I have 140 on 3. I have reset the cam timming many times and still no compresion all new gaskets the only thing I changed was the intake valves (and I relaped them and the came out nice)and they were out of a 900. I was told they would work but I'm starting to wonder if they are a bit longer or somthing and staying open so then I have no compresion. Very frustrated!!:blink:

I was without a manual when putting together my 400..

I asked the neighbor (A Chevy Guy) how he did his cams, and he said he just intuitively places the cam in by looking at the piston position opposed to valve position.

He said to line it up with the mark on the ignition in which you know which cylinders are firing, then just look at the cam lobes and rotate it until it is the right position; both valves closed on the firing cylinders, etc.

I wondered if he's ever had to run any of his 350s with some plug wires crossed because of a 180 degreed cam?
