question for the turbo guys was created by 810gpz750
getting really close to the 810 kit. got a good crank i am sending to ape soon for the services. i have a turbo model that was de-turboed(is that a word?) i think it may have 810s in it already. anyway i really think dfi on a bike is... well i dont like it i like hearing the air sucked thru my pods and the constant smell of gas. this bike is a daily driver so i think an intercooler would be mandatory. the question is can i get 2 and 3rd gear power wheelies without a turbo? can i break 10 secs on the 1/4 mile without a turbo. my mechanic has a drawthru he is willing to sell me it makes 22#s, with an intercooler maybe 25#. just would like to know the pros and cons from the guys who run a turbo.

also forgot to say i am trying to find carillo knife blade rods for it. i am going to take this 750 where no 750 has been before! i plan on running throttle in a bottle a nice 30 shot under the seat. i am going to spend a lot of money just to see the look on the gsxr's faces when i blow them away on an old air cooled inline 4.

Are you asking if you can break into the 10's i.e. 10.00-10.99secs? OR break through the 10's i.e. quicker than 10.00? I'm a little confused. Either one is going to be hard with N/A unless you use nitrous.

It is possible to get power wheelies in 2nd and 3rd if you lower the gearing but I don't think you will with stock or close to stock gearing.

I haven't turboed anything but guessing at power to weight ratios.

Oh yeah, STAY FOCUSED!!! or you're going to end up with bike with lotsa $$$ in it and you'll still be passed by a Gsxr.

thanks for the input. i meant break the 10 i.e. 9.98etc. i will be running nitrous in the almost near future that is the reason for the rods and ape work on the crank i am also having ape build my head. i think i can make the gsxr guys cry. by the way there is a guy in gemany that is in the mid 8's on a gpz 750 (i dont have that much money!) although a 9.50 pass is acheiveable i think(hope).

You're going to have to run more than a 30HP shot. I assumed your bike weighs 500lbs and you weight 150lbs. By the "online dyno" you need 130rwhp. So you'll need closer to a 50 shot.

Try this link. It's pretty cool but I'm not sure if it factors in a wheelie bar and slick tire...

I'm going all NA on my Pro-street. 1428 13.5:1 to be exact. I'm going to need 140-150 rwhp to reach 9.50's.

wow that is awesome man i am closer to 220#. i guess my terminology is wrong for the nitrous i want a big bottle and there is a guy near me with what he said was a 30 shot. i didnt know he was refeering to the hp increase i thought it was the size of the bottle . i definately want more than a 30 horse increase. i want more like 100. nitrous and turbo is something that is very new to me almost alien. i definately would not spend close to $4000 to run a 30hp shot:whistle: . thanks for the info i can see cleary now:) .

My friend Walt has won a couple of dyno shootouts
with his 84 GPZ750 turbo.810 turbo pistons,head
work (big$$$).You will need a lot wider tire and rim
to get to the nines. The Kawasaki turbo guys have their own web site and support each other pretty good. You
may want to sign up.

Go for it! stick the turbo on.
Intercoolers help a lot to keep detonation at bay from the lower charge temperature, so you can up the boost a bit more.
Nitrous helps also by lowering the charge temperature as well. A 30 hp shot can give you more than that on a turbo engine simply by increasing the charge density.
Main problem is fuel quality. 95 octane fuel should get you to about 13/14psi boost. HP depends on all sorts of stuff really. Aim for around 140RWHP on road fuel. The skys your limit on decent race fuel. 200...230...260hp:evil:...... Should get you below 10 with some big wheely bars;)

It takes more than money to do that. Better learn to walk the walk before you talk the talk.
