Stuck Kickstarter = Dead Bike

DONE!!!

I finally got all of the screws, parts and time to put everything back together.

Slapped the rotor on the crankshaft with not but the "copper-looking" thrust washer, all in front of the sprocket and chain.

Along with a bunch of other little fixes, the 750 LIVES! and made a nice, peppy run out to Boston for the first time.

Sweet!!! Thank you everyone that helped me on this! Even though it was 40 degrees for the ride, it was so satisfying.

I'm glad to hear it, but the part I quoted above has me concerned. Is this a typo, or did you -- or did you not -- install the "copper-looking" thrust washer (part #29). I hope you did, it is needed or the starter sprocket might bind and spin!

EDIT: After re-re-re-reading, I think I get what you mean. You mean "nothing but" or "naught but". I get it. So you have the rotor, the washer, and the starter sprocket, no starter clutch. Tell me if that's right.... and Congrats!

Yes, sorry for the bad wording. I DID in fact install the copper thrust washer. All is well in disabled starter land.

And on top of that, rebuilding the timing advancer and adjusting the mixture has put the bike in the best (and quite smooth) running condition it has seen in years.

If only it weren't about to drop below freezing here. :pinch: Can't wait for spring! :woohoo:

Also, I know how cold it is. I commuted today as well... right around 32F for my 45-minute commute... :blink:
