Yeah i also use the bolt-on case guards. I also use pegs mounted on the middle pipe so they dont stick out so far. Being 6'5" it is a must for me to be able to strech a leg once in a while.

When I got hit by a car recently on my 750 the engine guard did it's job. I had a highway peg on that one too and it's all screwed up now. I think it broke the guard loose from the frame too, I haven't looked at it closely yet.

I installed a set shortly after I got the bike. I don't plan to lay it down, but then, I didn't plan 99% of what's happened to me so far...

case guards are a must have on my never ending list of parts for the project.

I don't like the looks of engine guards, but they look good on LTDriders bike. I don't know how you make "everything" look good, but you do. I used them on long trips as they were great leg rests even without the pegs. I took them off after the big rides and just take my chances and ride careful now. As to the reason 20 dogs have bit me, I don't get it as dogs are supposed to love children, but I was chewed on by everything from poodles to great danes in my younger years. Had a great dane try to bite my nose off when I was about 15. Still got the scars all over from them. I just decided no more and the last dog that bit me was in 1980 or so.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Right on Tim...thanks for pointing that out,Bud...looks like it would work too.
Well,I HAVE tried the engine guards out,and I don't mind them,as far as foot-peg holders go.
I even got on it,in the twisties last weekend with Tony, and although I once again, touched down with both footpegs(the main ones)...the crash bars did not touch down...yay!...I'm still in one piece.
And the highway pegs DO fold up(all of My pegs do)so I'm going to leave them as is for now,and see how it goes.
Thanks for all the replies,You Guys.B)

(at this rate,I'll have to swap the new highway pegs for My normal pegs, once they get totally ground down, lol)
