Nice and tan at the center, but pretty dark at the base.
(Sooty build-up).Brand new plugs with a few rides on them.
Who is REALLY good at reading plugs?
Whadya think?...what does this indicate?

I dont think it looks bad to me, the black on the edge would prob be a touch of oil burn, but I wouldnt worry about it

Yeah. That or it looks like it could have been from running with the choke on. Then that burned off the hot part of the plug.

If anything it might look a little lean (not enough to matter)... hard to tell due to the blurriness of the picture.....

I agree a clearer picture would help but the outside will get like that because it is cooled by the head. The center looks like it may be getting a touch of oil burn.

It's not oil burn...rebuilt motor, and no signs of oil out the pipe.I had it idling the other day at around 2k,and I DID notice some black at the pipe...not BLUE...definitely black.Pilot circuit too rich, maybe?

I just think it's odd that the base of the plug is getting that dark, and yet the center is burning not too bad at all.
I agree, the picture IS a bit fuzzy...sorry about that...I was in a hurry to get out the door this morning.
I'll go and take another one here in a bit.
Thanks for the replies,Guys.B)

No expert by any means here but I believe the proper color should be tan? Running a little lean perhaps?

Lean?...maybe a bit,but not a LOT,that's for sure. All plugs are reading about the same. The one in the pic is probably the lightest in colour.

I'm just wondering what's causing the black smoke(and it's not a lot...at all),and also why the base of the plugs are so black?

All circuits of the carbs are running good, and there's no bogging,or hesitation. It pulls great, and smooth.
I'm pretty sure that(last year) I put bigger mains in,but I can't remember what size I used.I DID write it down somewhere,but...lol.
I'm also getting some popping on deceleration, but it's not that bad,and I realize that I'll probably never get rid of that...it's a piped kawi trademark,I'm sure.

Anyone else? B)
