June 1982 Cycle magazine article on the GPz750 (apparently it started with the 82 instead of 83).
Also the intake ports have received detailed clean-up work along with much of their length. In fact, the smooth ports look as though they stopped at someones flowbench en route to final assembly. With no ridges or burrs, the ports give the intake charge a smooth shot at the combustion chamber, and there has been a fair amount of shaping and blending in the valve seat area and in the port's roofs downstream from the valve guides.
Also mentioned in the March 1982 isuue of Cycle guide.
Feb 1983 Issue of Cycle Guide in an article on the 83 GPz750 says
It's in the intake ports, however, just upstream of the valve seat where Kawasaki really took care of business. After casting and initial machining, a small ridge is left behind in the intake port above the valve seat; that ridge necks the port down and obstructs gas flow. And the only way to relieve the ridge is is by hand-grinding, an expensive and time consuming process, but Kawasaki took the time and the trouble to do it. Plus, there's more hand work evident in the first third of the intake port's length.

Compare a GPz head and a KZ head side by side and you can see other differences. According to the magazine articles of the time, the GPz750 heads were hand ported at the factory, and you can see by looking that there has been some work done.
This "factory modification" caused controversy in stock class dragracing at the time because it "blurred" the stock/factory port rule. What was kind of "Historic" about it though was the "hand-work" that was done to those particular ports. Very "Exotic" for that period, not because of how much was done but because of the "hand-work" factor.

open up your page in adobe, make sure the whole page of text is visable, hit the Prnt Scrn button on your keyboard, open up MS Paint, hit paste, crop the image so you just have the page of text, upload to photobucket, post url link;)Man I'm good
