Cylinder De-glazing Tool was created by Mcdroid
Hello Folks:

Just bought a Lisle Cylinder De-glazing Tool and I understand how to use it. However, what type of oil (if any) should I be using while de-glazing the cylinders?

Look up honing on here and you might find it. Some people use engine oil, I would use three in one oil.

1981 KZ 1000LTD with non stock and more comfortable handle bars and 4 into one V&H

honing oil is the best, but for the samll amount that you will be using, it may be too expensive.
you can use kerosene, it is light enough but you have to keep it flowing, the main idea is to keep the honed material away from the work, hone stone and cyl wall,
I used to use a empty soap bottle, fill it with the fluid, and keep applying it while you hone.

I dont remember , but is this the one that is spring loaded?

Marvel Mystery Oil, PB Blaster, ATF, sewing maching oil, Diesal fuel/Kerosine. . .anything to float off the debris as you are working the hone. Eventually, you want a cross-hatch pattern at about 30 degrees. My machinist friend says about 50 strokes with a dingle-berry hone does a pretty good job on the stuff he does.

When you are done, use hot soapy water (dishsoap) and a brush to flush all the honed surfaces to remove metal filings and grit from the honed surfaces. A circular toilet brush does a great job to help the scubby bubbles. Dry it off and shoot it down with some oil to prevent corrosion.

yes there are four and wiseco and finances said i could just replace the one set that had a dammaged ring..the others are o.k...there are no marks or stipes on the cyl walls and the motor had great comp when this block and piston set was removed...i bought the set used ,,,cheap... and allready had a complete rebuild gasket kit and the 73 z-1 motor that was rust seized..and pulled the old trash block and 903 pistons.... and amready to put 71mm block and pistons on...i am being cheap but this is all extra stuff i had and am pretty sure it will be o.k...just wanted some advicePLUMMEN wrote:
