kz1000 fuel injection was created by acidgypc26
I just got a new engine from a guy close to where I live and am having a hard time finding out any info on it. the engine numbers are KZTQ0GE 001117 and so far have found no info on it. The guy I bought it from was told that it was from germany. it is fuel injected but
I dont have the throttle body and most of the electrical components for the fuel injection and would love to know where I could find them. It is supposed to be a 1979 kz1000 so if any one can help me that would be great. thanks

If the engine number is actually KZT00GE 001117, then that falls almost in the middle of the engine number range for the 1980 KZ1000G, the first Kawasaki fuel injected bike.

If you want to keep it stock, the entire fuel injection assemblies show up on eBay now and then. If you just want to put EFI on it, then 83-84 GPz1100 throttle bodies and a MegaSquirt controller is a better choice.

Good advice from Steell...eBay would be a good source for the original equipment. You do, indeed, appear to have a 'G' model motor, possibly manufactured as early as late 1979. The motor is essentially a MKII motor but with fuel injectors mounted directly in the head. The bike (and motor) are AKA a 'Z1 Classic'. The bike (and motor) are unique to North America. However, the European version was termed the 'H' model but I don't have any info on associated engine number series...the motors were similar between the G and H series bikes.

I am wanting to put carberators on my kz1000g. The fuel injection system has failed. If anyone has information on this conversion I would look forward to hearing from them. As in what carberators would work best, what intake boots. thanks for the help.

anything from 26-29mm should be workable.you might need to get ignition from a carbed bike, yours might be tied into the computer for fuel injection;)

I've got a G1 classic. I'll check my wiring diagram later and let you know if the ignition is tied into the contoller computer.

There is a 1000 G-1 for sale on Ebay now that has Mikuni BS-34 carbs installed on it. Do you have any idea what part has failed on your fuel injection system? You might want to try and repair your current setup to maintain the value of your bike. The 1000 G-1's with working fuel injection are becoming scarcer all the time. If you do decide to go the carb route let me know if you would be interested in selling any of your leftover F/I bits. I currently have a G-1 with the F/I still working but I'm always on the lookout for spare parts just in case.

The Gringo, it looks like you need five more bikes to fill out your stable, a 400, 440, 750 twin, 900 and a 1100 :)

Ok, maybe a KZ250 a well, then your list will be complete :D

Actually a "herd reduction sale" would be more in order. I know where there is an 80 LTD 1000 with a tranny problem I have my eye on, just been too lazy to call the guy back. I probably should do that today though.:pinch: I had several 900's back in the day but now they just fetch too much money, I'm a bit like you are Steell......CHEAP:laugh: :P

On the carb side of things. Is there a K model kz1000 ltd? I was just peeking over my title trying to narrow down my bikes (if you will) birthplace, family tree, etc... and i hear that with special boot/adapters that you can stick a bigger '83 set of carbs on to a '80 ...true?

Yes. There are two basic families of big bore Kawasakis -- 903/1015cc bikes and 998/1089cc bikes: the later are termed J-motored bikes. The first family was produced between 1972 and 1981...the second between 1981 and 2005. The 'K' model belongs in the 998cc family and for carbs, has Mikuni CV-type BS34. It is possible to run these carbs on the earlier 1015 style motors, but I think Roy has already addressed this in another thread.
