i use chromemasters. i think they are in TN.
they do have a web page but i can not remember the upper & lower cases to pull them up. i have used just about everyone. they are the best. their stuff lasts for years and years. NO BULL ! Just remember...anything you have plated that has threaded holes...re-tap them before installation, and pay special attention to ALL gasket surfaces!
Good Luck!

Have you considered having them polished or doing it yourself. You will find a lot of different opinions on this subject, but I prefered polished parts on the older bikes. It is more work to keep up though.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

B) Polished looks great!

To keep it clean without polish final clean the parts with laquer thinner.

Tremclad makes a clear coat product that is made especially for clean bare polished metal. Use the glossy and the parts take on a real silky chrome look that will last!:cheer:

Keep your parts clean like you would the other painted surfaces.

Maybe I overlooked it, but I couldn't find any clear. Can you tell me which site you went to to find some?

Most of the polished engine cases from older KZ1000's will fit our bikes. The only one that won't fit is the alternator cover (ours are bigger).

That's an interesting little tidbit to know. Do you know if it is bigger due to increased charging capacity (ie: is the stator larger to accomodate the additional demands of the EFI)? Sounds like I need to keep my eyes open for one to hoard just in case. I would have assumed the cover was the same except for being chromed from the factory. Thanks for the info Paul.

Hi Guy's,

Has anyone tried to remove the chrome from the engine covers ? I presume some sort of wire brush or abrasive process to get it back to bare metal for polishing.

Also is there a website for the clear product to coat the parts when finished.

Thanks
Noel
