Make sure you put em back correct with the open cable  to airbox side and close cable to the engine side

This will be a cable adjustment to take up slack.
As a precaution, when I took them off,  I took video of the positioning and marked which goes where. They are already in properly.

This is not an issue of me putting the connectors back onto the carb, but simply removing slack in the cables.

Im good, Thanks

While your dithering now would be a good time to top off the blinker fluid and change your tires over from summer to winter air.

1977 KZ650
Has Dyna Coils and Dyna S ignition

Bike ran great for 3 years.
I parked it in July after a long ride and let it sit for three months.

In October I started the bike and it ran funny. Looked at the plugs: #1 was wet with oil. At some point I will have to change the valve seals.

I pulled all the plugs to inspect them, and replaced the oil covered plug in cylinder #1. I didnt put the spark plug WIRES back in the correct firing order!!

For 3 weeks I struggled with why pipes 1 and 2 would not get hot. I pulled the carbs. Mostly they were clean. I was pretty impressed with how clean they were.

Put the carbs back on and got the same problem: backfiring and cylinders 1 and 2 not firing.

Called Dynatek.
The tech said the bike  is put of phase and to fix the problem I should reverse the spark plug wire order.
So I changed the spark plug wire order from the Left Hand Coil going to #1 and #4 to #2 and #3 and vice versa on the Right Hand Coil. Now the BIKE RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!

Below  is a pic of it today. Thanks to all the members of the forum who were civil, non-argumentative, and who sought to help. You know who you are.

I am very very happy the bike is running. Its a great feeling:

Hi Shane,
Welcome back to KZR !
I'm thinking that threads like this one don't really fit in the Tech Forums especially not in the Engine forum. I've moved this thread to Bike Related where it'll fit a bit better.
