Bike ran great for 3 years.
I parked it in July after a long ride and let it sit for three months.
In October I started the bike and it ran funny. Looked at the plugs: #1 was wet with oil. At some point I will have to change the valve seals.
I pulled all the plugs to inspect them, and replaced the oil covered plug in cylinder #1. I didnt put the spark plug WIRES back in the correct firing order!!
For 3 weeks I struggled with why pipes 1 and 2 would not get hot. I pulled the carbs. Mostly they were clean. I was pretty impressed with how clean they were.
Put the carbs back on and got the same problem: backfiring and cylinders 1 and 2 not firing.
The tech said the bike is put of phase and to fix the problem I should reverse the spark plug wire order. So I changed the spark plug wire order from the Left Hand Coil going to #1 and #4 to #2 and #3 and vice versa on the Right Hand Coil. Now the BIKE RUNS LIKE A CHAMP!
Below is a pic of it today. Thanks to all the members of the forum who were civil, non-argumentative, and who sought to help. You know who you are.
I am very very happy the bike is running. Its a great feeling:
Welcome back to KZR !
I'm thinking that threads like this one don't really fit in the Tech Forums especially not in the Engine forum. I've moved this thread to Bike Related where it'll fit a bit better.
