Show us your unique bike mod!

Hey everyone, once again I'll get the ball rolling, I'd like to see unique and original engineering type solutions that you guys have invented to deal with small bike issues! I've come up with a few on my 1000st, my most recent one was....ever since I bought the bike there was no stay for the sprung seat arm (somebody at some point fitted a Guiliari and didn't fit a catch) I didn't like it just resting on the side panel when it was up so I found a tough ht lead clip from an Audi 80 and fitted that with sunk screws and a bonding agent, now my seat has a choice of four positions!! What's your neat little mod??

On my black 650 below. Video taken before I callibrated the circuit. It was topping out the red led at about 7k rpm before callibrating.

I like that that's cool and kind of old school I bet it looks great at night I also like those old....I think it's krober rpm units for race bikes of the 70s, I'll see if I can find a pic...

While we are talking about gauges. This is my gauge cluster from my Kz1000 Superbike. A gutted stock Kz speedometer with a super rare Factory Kawasaki road race tach off my Kz1000S1 mounted to a hand carved and bent aluminum gauge bracket. Plus it is mounted to the bike with drilled Titanium bolts!!!!

I used a 77 KZ750 rear spoke-disc hub and a grimeca caliper/bracket I found on ebay (must have been from an old drag bike) to convert my Z1 to rear disc brakes. I also had to turn down the diameter of the rotor so the bracket I had would fit (rather than making an entirely new bracket). The master cylinder was ordered from webike.

The tach is cable driven. Its super accurate without any needle bounce. When the motor hits 3,000RPM, its starts to move the needle.

Yes, it does have a light. The rubber grommet and bulb fits into the tube you see on backside of tach.

These tachs were also used on Kawasaki's 24 hour Endurance bikes so they needed a light to illuminate the gauge during the night time hours.

Oh man I'm SO foolish! I looked at the pic of the clocks and I'm so used to seeing the rpm on the right I looked at the blank clock and thought how does that work? It must light up :laugh: :laugh: now I see the neat race tacho on the left another race tach I've seen which is different is the one on Eddie Lawsons 1980 Laguna Seca bike, I'm not sure if it's an official kawasaki racing one too?

Of all the craZy stuff I've done with this KZ1100 over the last 20 years, this RS carb mod is one of the most convenient and useful.
The knob is handy to reach while seated, and the mechanism functions smooothly,
Making fine and precise idle adjustment is just plain EZ.

I decided to incorporate the original Mikuni adjustment screw instead of the black plastic knob that was used on my prototype.

Very nice that's a very handy little mod and neatly installed too

300 tire and a 13 inch stretch on a KZ. Notice I have shocks on it and not the easy way of doing it, struts . just had to finish exhaust. Its done now. Have about 120 miles on it.
