So I got some xmas money (extra) and as you may have seen in my last post, Im looking at kawasakis. A guy with 77 KZ1000 with 50+ miles on it (hes a friend of a friend) was going to sell it cheap, and then got greedy. He now wants 4100 for it. NO WAY.

So I found a 76 KZ900 in decent shape but with horrible 4 into 1 exhaust and an engine painted black. ugh. But the price is good. That leads to my next question.

Which is the best all around bike?

By all accounts, the KZ 900 has a better resale value, and its also been said by SWEST that if I put a wiseco 1015 kit in it, it will be much faster than a KZ100. But then, I thought KZ1000's were slower than Kz900's anyway. Correct me if Im wrong?

I didn't say "much faster", I said spin faster because of the lighter crank. I'd say the value is about the same.

They set the speed record at 140. See the clips on the home page.

Back in 1976/1977 when they changed, according to magazine tests, the KZ1000 was faster of the two, and an upgrade over the KZ900. Of course after all these years collectors prefer a Z1, but only the Z1, not the KZ900 so much. Z1 was 1973-75, KZ900 was 1976-77. Magazines tested the top speed of a KZ1000 at around 120mph give or take. Definately not 140, at least stock.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
