kyan44 wrote: Hello guys! So I bought a pair of reverse megaphone mufflers. I am trying to install them and then wrap it up with exhaust wrap. But I have a little problem. The reducers that came with the mufflers are too loose even with the clamp tighen. How does one connect the universal muffler to the exhaust? Does anybody have a solution to this problem?
Normally the person making the purchase would check the OD of the existing pipe and then check the ID of the mufflers to ensure a good fit.
The OD should be as close as possible to the ID without being equal to or greater than the ID. This will eliminate the need to fill the gap.
For example, I bought a pair of used headers and a set of new mufflers for my KZ400. The OD of the header is about 1.48" so I bought mufflers with a 1.5" ID. The pieces fit together well and will require only an exhaust clamp. (Do not use a hose clamp for this.)
OD = outer diameter
ID = inner diameter

The pipe you show in your pic looks like it is in good shape, so I though you might want to see what pipe wrap will do to the finish. Ed
