I'm a warm weather type. But according to this chart, I'm doing well in the frozen tundra. With the help of course to the bike that makes cold weather riding a comfy breeze. The Kawasaki KZ1000. Buy one today, you'll be glad you did.

Yeah it gets cold down here too. This week it's been in the 70's but tomorrow it will drop into the 50's and where my daughter lives it will be in the 30-40's during the day. I will be taking my truck this XMAS.

Went too a river boat 40 miles away thinking I'd stay only a hour or so and it turned into 8...... was 80 when I went (in my tee shirt) and 50 on the way home.... that equals 25 so I can see now why it was very close to the coldest I ever was. I can also see why I almost never ride once it hits 85 or more..... no more help cooling from the wind.
Suppose to be 18 below here Sun night ..... wonder what that works out too. :S

The chart only goes down to 30. I guess they figure no sane person would ever ride below that I rode to work in temps below zero many a time. Only had a 3 mile ride, but it was a little chilly sometimes. 34 miserable years I worked at the same place and only thing that I can say kept me going was the 5 to 10 minutes ride each way every day, weather permitting. I kind of stretched the weather permitting I suppose.

Coming back the last time with my HD jacket (made in CHINA in 1987), thermals, chaps, gauntlets and helmet with face shield, I felt like the tin man walking around. Most of the time it's just the jacket, gloves and maybe the face shield. Got the jaw piece for the helmet but it's a PITA to put on or take off each time I ride. It's only really cold down here 2-3 months a year. HOT during the summer, I guess no place is perfect.

When I was young and dumb and...well anyways,I rode year round in NYC as long as the snow and ice cooperated,in fact I didnt own a car till I was about 25,I somehow came to my senses and got a car.I remember all too well a trip I took out to the end of L.I. on my Z1 for a party in Feb.When I got to my friends house I just fell over, couldnt get my feet off the foot pegs my legs were so numb.Took about a week to get that chill out of my bones.Nowadays my lower temp limit is around 50,unless theres a sudden drop and I have to get home.Do not like riding if I cant be totally relaxed, cold makes me tense up too much.

I have ridden below freezing before, 25 miles at night - not the way I had planned things but just had to be done.
at -1 C it becomes -23 C, not surprised I thought i had mild frostbite in my fingers.
Humidity and air pressure would also affect the wind chill factor, a damp foggy night would further increase this.
