Z1r Reserve Lt-ing control was created by spdygon
Would like to by pass the Reserve Lighting control wiring.
Anyone done this...if so do you have a wiring diagram?

I think on a lot of them you just unplug the two conector's and plug the two harness conector's together.

I did it on my 82 GPZ750 but I think the box is different. You need to find the wiring diagram but there should be a power wire, a low beam wire, and a high beam wire. On my bike, I just spliced those 3 wires together and was in business. I actually cut the connector off the pigtail of the box with about 2" of wire, spliced them together and tucked the other wires away (the "idiot light" wire and the ground for the box) taped it up and plugged it back into the harness.

I found wiring diagrams here:

www.kawa-z1.com/data/wiring/

it looks like you have an external resistor. So you have to be a little more creative than I had to be. The theory is the same, bypass the box and the resistor and wire the light circuit directly from the switch to the headlight.

well i have gone and check just about thing and still have the issue. will check a few other places but its looking like its in the harness itself.
will have to split it and have a really good look at it.

Well did find few issues with the wiring . Especially on the hand controls but after repairs still did not fix the issue.
So went ahead and did the coil relay modification.
Works great...battery voltage at coils is at 13.8 and voltage for the Lighting circuits are at 10.2.

I know that fuse block is not the greatest but till I find one more contact it will do

I don't know what your trying to do... But 10.2 voltage at headlight seems too low. On my 73 Z1 and 77 LTD I run my high and low beams thru a pair of relays directly fed from battery and controlled by the handlebar high/low switch. This takes the power load off of the main harness and gives the headlight a full battery voltage. Put a diode between the relays and get both high and low beams on at same time when switch is on high only and have full battery voltage at headlight at both high and low. Very Bright, lites the road very good.

Understand what you are saying.
The Z1r has twice the length of wire because of the Reserve Lighting Control and Turn Signal Relay.
By doing the coil mod I just added 2.3 volts back to the Lighting circuit.
Lights a lot brighter now
