Scroll down to "1000 cc arranged by year"
Click on selected model to see info such as range of engine serial numbers, range of chassis (frame) numbers, etc. applicable to the particular model. And compare the range of numbers to the actual numbers on the bike at hand.
Might possibly discover that the engine and frame came from two different models, maybe even different years.
