I haven't had a problem with Oink. I think its the buyers' own fault if they overbid.

Try Paiden325. I got a great deal on a welded crank from him.

I looked at the 42 bids on that caliper. The day before the auction ended, one bidder bid against himself a bunch of times, really jacking up the price. I then looked at that bidders history, and he/she has not bid on any other seller's merchandise. Makes me suspect that oink has a shell account or a bidding partner.

There's no doubt a lot of that fake bidding goes on, on eBay, to seemingly bump up prices or ensure items don't sell too cheaply if there's no reserve. I watch a lot of stuff I have no intention of buying when I see silly prices, just to see what happens, it's amazing how often items "sell" for a silly price and yet a few days later the items are re-listed.

I buy a lot of vehicles at various auctions including dealer auctions and once in a while will get "psyched out" on a particular vehicle because you think why is it going so cheaply?, what do others know, that I've missed? in the seconds you have before it sells. Sometimes you are left kicking yourself for not bidding, sometimes you dodge a bullet. But I don't doubt in the same way, some draw comfort from other fake bids, when paying too much for something, if you pay a $100 for something, but someone else bid $99 then you could be tricked in to thinking you paid the going rate. The golden rule with any auction is to never set your heart on buying any particular item, set the maximum you will pay and stick to it having researched the appropriate value, there will always be another one coming another day, if you are prepared to hold out. You always get a better deal and very often a better item, down the road, in my experience.

Agree! The other thing to do is use resources other than the auction in question to determine the highest price you are willing to pay for an item and don't bid any more than that. I normally bid in the last few seconds of an auction for 2 reasons. - first, my bid generally won't drive up the price of the item, and second, even if I'm tempted to place another higher bid because someone outbid me it is too late to do so. :) Ed

If people are bidding on something it must be good. I do the same thing. I wait and bid at the last minute. I never pay more than 1/2 of what's new. Cases in point

Won the tach and speedo because no one was bidding. All the other items were being bid on like crazy. It pays to sit back and wait. B)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationBeen watching this for months. Sold out then put up again, this time with bolts. Someone bought 4 or them. I suspect so he could sell them at a higher price.

I hope he gets to fondle them till the cows come home.
