But in all seriousness; that's crappy, I've had it happen before BUT talked to sellers who wouldn't hold things due to people trying to say they'd be there and never showing up.

When you talked with the guy you should have offerd a little more than what he was asking and that would have held it for you.

Looking at Craigslist today, the bike is already reposted for $1650. The dude has about ten bikes up for sale, crap like this just makes me angry. Lol

If you tell a guy "if it is as advertised, I'll pay full asking and be there in less than an hour" he should hold it for you. Anything short of that makes him a total weasel.

When I sold the KZ650 last July, I warned folks of offers and I wasn't too keen on selling so I waited for the right offer. When it did come the guy came with low ball cash. I told him if he wanted it held, i would take the cash he had and he could hold the incomplete title assuring that I wouldn't sell to the next or better bidder. It worked out fine...except I should have kept that one. :silly: Well a few dollars extra for kids in college was a good idea too, just not as good as a 78 KZ650.

When I sold the 550 the guy next door said he would pay for it the next Wednesday. He then came back and gave me $150 deposit. I told him I would list it if he didn't follow through with the deal. I made the mistake of telling him I was planning on using some of the money for my power bill. He didn't come back until the following Friday and said he would have to pay DMV fees. I told him that in the beginning, that's why it was only $600. I kept his deposit and listed it the next day. He was hoping I would need the money and he could get it for a few hundred. WRONG Someone said I should give him back his deposit. I told them it was Ernest money and he forfeited it by trying to game me. If I were to give it back, there would be a line all the way down the road with A$$holes waiting their turn to take West because he's easy.
I don't do business that way and won't tolerate those that do.
BTW, he bought another bike and returned it a week later. Tire kicking SOB.
