I found a bike on CL was created by Silverslugger00
So I found a 1982 KZ1000 ON Craigslist for $1000. My knowledge is limited on older bikes and I went and looked on Nada for a pricing suggestions. I'm wonder how much is this bike worth really, and how much would it cost me in parts to get a carb? I don't mind learning and taking my time. But I would love advice on this bike. Thanks in advance.

I would say a running 1000 from that year, in that condition would be worth about $800-1600. Otherwise it's a non-running bike with missing parts. Try to make a sale around $500 or less if you are really interested. Make sure there are papers for registration if you plan on spending money.

You are buying a bike without knowing if and how the engine is running, and all other parts. If this is your first or dream bike and you have extra cash and mechanical skills, go for it.

If you want to ride sooner rather than later, then find a good running bike for the same price (plenty out there). I got my 1979 KZ650 for $0.

The bike is a KZ1000-M2 CSR. I would offer $500. The asking price might not be terribly high, though. It's going to take another $500-1000 or so.. If you get it into good running condition, it might be worth $3500 or thereabouts. I would assume $2500 max re-sale.

Don't believe anything the owner says --- people forget, don't know or flat out lie. sad but true

Missing one carb? Double pics, upside down pic of the speedo? Watch it.

I have never paid more than $500 for some real nice KZ's (running in most cases). Ones that needed work bit still in great shape. If your planning on working on it that's what I would offer for it. Maybe a bit more depending on specifics of that bike. $1000 seems pretty steep from the pics.

For a bike like that I agree.

Its been sitting in the elements for a long time, engine could be stuck, have been stuck and freed up.

Yeah I'd start at $300 or $400 and negotiate from there... that's just my take on it from the pictures.

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.

Around central California if you see one on Craigslist and don't drop everything and go get it it will be gone. Scarcely time to discuss it with anybody.

A set of 26's will run $200 used. Id start at $600 and go from there. If they have been apart they're just that, parts.
