Sometime during the eighties I got stuck on Meltzer’s sport tires, so when it was time to get new tires for my KZ Metzler Lazer Tech was my natural choice.
I do remember that the reason I liked the Metzler ME 99/33 Sport was because when they let go, they let go slowly making it easy to slide, Pirelli Phantom was the total opposite, the held on, but when the let go, the really let goooooo . . . . . . . .

Not real happy to read about the wearing quickly problem........ hoping I get a little better outta mine. Maybe only 400 miles on mine so far with really no sign of wear yet but you should expect that. 120/90 by 18 on mine.

Nessism wrote: A friend has been running Metzler Lasertec's on his GS850 and they are basically junk. They cracked all over the tire inside the first year and wore VERY fast. He continued to ride them even though they had surface cracks. He only got a few thousand miles out of the rear and the owner is about 130 lbs soaking wet and he doesn't ride aggressively. Never again.
Pete Greek1: I bought a Metzler Lasertech front tire & a Pirelli Sport Demon for the rear about 1000 miles ago & was very happy with the performance of both tires, in wet & dry conditions, last week while I was polishing up my bike, I noticed a 3 inch crack in the sidewall of the Metzler, like Nessism mentioned happened to his friends Metzler's,
Obviously that is totally unacceptable, but it's also very far from my perception of the Metzeler brand - I'm not a fanboy, just speaking from personal experience..
If you still have access to the tires, could you be bothered to check where they were manufactured? I live in Europe, so my Metzelers are Made in Germany as they originally were - they also have a factory in Brazil (where I suspect tires for the US market could be made) and since recently one in China. Just wondering if place of manufacture could mean a difference in quality (which doesn't seem unlikely,)

What I don't like about those tires, Is that they're H Rated, so they're only safe & you're pushing it up to 130 MPHmissionkz wrote: www.motorcycle-superstore.com/6205/i/shinko-712-rear-tire
I Always get V Rated tires, because on a few occasions I'll take my bike up to 140-145 MPH, just for the adrenaline rush, but at 57 yrs. old , I don't do it as often as I did when I was younger, but It's good to know that my tires can handle that speed when I get the urge,
