In April 1977 I saw a beautiful new blue KZ650-C1 sitting on the showroom floor at American Kawasaki in Glen Burnie, and I immediately knew I had to have one. It had a “SOLD” tag hanging on it, so I asked the salesman if he could get another one in for me. “Sorry, we only got the one bike in blue and can get no more. “ I went to Eastpoint Kawasaki and there was a blue one on the showroom floor. I was willing to pay full retail; as I said, I had to have one. I asked the salesman “how much” and that A-hole said “well that depends on how bad you want it.” Totally pissed at his smart-ass remark I told him I had been willing to pay full price, but now I wouldn’t buy it from him if he offered it for $50. I turned and walked out leaving that idiot with his mouth hanging open.
I could find no other dealer with a blue one, so I returned to American Kawasaki and asked the salesman if he was positive he couldn’t get one from another dealer or elsewhere. He said he could not, but he asked me to wait while he spoke with the manager. He came back, pulled the “SOLD” tag off the blue bike, and told me the buyer had not been back in since putting a deposit on it 2 weeks earlier so he would sell it to me. It was now mine! I still have it! Ed

Hey Ed, when a deposit is put down and the guy doesn't come back, does he get his money back when he does?
just wondering.
You were meant to have it.
Steve

That seems so crazy about the bad news of the biker who died crashing into a guardrail... Really sucks to have someone walk into the motorcycle dealership and let everyone know such somber news
