It would be a good idea to change the fork oil & the brake fluid on your front & rear brakes,...many people neglect to do that until its too late, & ends up costing a lot of money to repair & fix them

And if it doesn't have an inline fuel filter, now would be the time to install one

Sorry guys it's an 82 440 ltd.

I checked the filter the other day and there was a hold in the foam piece that wraps around the filter. I bought a gallon jug of rotella 15w40 conventional and a fram filter. I was contemplating the fuel filter but wasn't sure where to put it. Any suggestions?

The brake fluid definitely looks nasty and I'll look into changing the fork fluid. I should have it back to my house tomorrow night and start really working on it saturday.

Thanks for all the help guys this is veeeery useful!!

The fuel filter can go anywhere between the tank and carbs. Be sure that it does not cause a kink in the line or interfere with anything else. Also be sure it is designed for a gravity feed system (no pump) and that the arrow indicating the direction of flow is pointed toward the carbs and not the tank.
Happy wrenching.

Today I finally got the bike to my house and changed the oil the plugs and drained the gas. Put new gas in the tank and rode around my house for a few laps. It will need another oil change I noticed the oil is looking dark again already.im going to look into a shop to do the fork fluid and maybe some new seals tomorrow along with brake fluid flush.

I did notice that the headlight is dim. Any ideas on a brighter replacememt?
