750 twin racing history? was created by DoctoRot
I am looking for any history on Kz750 twins that people raced "back in the day" They definitely were not the fastest of their time so it seems like examples are few and far between. The only one i have seen that was a legitimate race bike is Fred French's 1980 twin. If you have any info or stories of these bikes being raced please share. thanks.
heres a Video of French's bike a couple of years ago in a sad state.

In one of my folders at work, I have a photo of a Canadian race bike KZ750B. It was raced in a vintage twins class. It made as much as 90hp before it started to break cranks and balancers. I'm sure it was bigger than 750cc. I would like to know what it took to get it to 75hp. That would be a fun bike.
I'll send you the image when I get back to work.

The 750 twin starter clutch is accessed on the left side behind the stator, unlike the fours. Considering this is a race bike, and it has a kick starter, i would venture it probably doesn't have electric start at all.

Quite a few years ago I saw that bike at the annual CVMG (Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group) swap meet at Paris Ontario and remember speaking with one of the guys involved with it. Cant remember details though but am pretty sure they were from the Kitchener Ontario section.
A very cool bike indeed
Thought I had a photo but a search of my computer turned up nothing and then I checked the Ontario thread and found that rstnick had taken this photo which is posted here www.kzrider.com/forum/13-bike-related/18...rio-chapter?start=40 along with many others from the meet

I have never fancied the twins, but holy cheese balls!
All of a sudden I understand why they were build and I think I have to start scouting.
Absolutely fab!
