At least it went to someone that will respect it and not HACK it up. Bossie looked like that. Good for you.

This is where I'm at after a couple weeks. I picked up a seat, rear foot pegs, points cover and have the red shock reflectors coming from Z1parts. I got a couple mirrors and some new front and rear Continental Classic tires.
The pipes bug me and are coming off but are there for now till I locate the best price on a set of 4 into 4 pipes. I'm trying to keep the reproduction parts to a minimum. I had the carbs cleaned and the timing set and a new battery went in and it runs like new. Sits and idles at 950 rpms easily.
The mileage is an unknown. It has anew speedo and tach on it and I'd kill to have the original speed on it for a couple reasons. The guy I got it from said it had 440 miles on it when he got it from his brothers family. I don't think that's possible but who knows. I think more like a few thousand judging from the wear on the original Gold Seal Dunlop that came off the front. It still had nubs on it but was cracked in places.
Anyway I wanna take some beauty photos next week but this is what it looked like with the iphone after the tires went on.

That is a terrific score and one that you will want to keep as stock as possible, as you stated. The pipes will be the most expensive thing you try to purchase. The originals are rarer than gold. Redline cycle service out of Skokie, IL has some authentic looking repros for $1,600 and Z1enterprises has some repros for $1,300.

Sitting on the grass at the Anchorage Library.
These will be the last photo's I'll be boring you with for a bit.
Thanks for all the nice comments on this one. I've had the 900 LTD for many years and have always wanted a Z1 and the way this one landed in my lap is just too cool.

Awesome find!
I have to tell you though, when we took my Pops Z1B out of storage the sun put a beating on the original paint. The tail and side covers will fade to a gold/green color and the clear onnthe tank will lift, then the tank paint fades.
Keep it out of direct sunlight.
