If you want a modified kz650, have the skills needed to finish that one and it comes with a clean title go for it. It will be more work than you think so you will have to spend some money and get your hands dirty.

Some people just shouldn't have tools. I'd offer $250 as long as the motor runs. Maybe $300 if it has a battery that will start it. The tail has been cut off, the mounts for the pipes and rear pegs are gone and the upside down triple clamp is the tip off this guy didn't have a clue what he was doing. Parts for eBay.

Thanks for the info guys. Seems like there is a lot more too it than I have thought, but thankfully I didn't get myself screwed over. I'll keep a lookout for a cleaner not very modified kz!

Yep typical cafe bobber fighter crap. There's a few WELL done ones and a bunch of junk out there. My feeling is if you want to build something wacky and wild for YOURSELF then keep your wacky stuff for life, if you do something nice and tasteful that is also reversible then fine to. But obviously, just start whacking at the frame is the order of business here; if it takes a lot of work to start, carbs, ignition or valves arent right, electrical issues? Who knows? Could be harness, switch gear etc.
With the last few bikes I bought without a finished seat that i intended to flip, I also learned them things are a big ole pain to find (78 gs750, and 81 kz1000J, no seats, here, on wbay, craigslist etc) and I had to make new pans, foam and covers, ton of work. Everybike I have bought since then came with a seat.

whoa that upside down triple tree is a new level of retardation. I didnt think the bearings would even fit that way.
