I have never needed to swap out plugs or coils while on the road but could not hurt if you have room in your dry bag.. I did have a speedo cable break on a long ride. Actually found a dealrer with one in stock next day!.
Other Items to Consider:
- Good tool kit with basics.
- Vise Grips.
- Multi tool knife
- Flashlight, preferably a head lamp like a Black Diamond or Petzl.
- Cotter pins for rear wheel axle nut and rear brake stay
- Duc Tape or Gorilla Tape
- Spare Fuel Line
-- Zip Ties of varying lengths.
- Spare turn signal and tail light/brake light bulbs
- Oil(already mentioned)
- Chain Lube
I know that some of these items aren't exactly tools but come in real handy and in a sense are like tools, expecially the Zip Ties and Duc Tape. .

It's amazing what you find on the road, get a flat tire, you would "think" back in 1990 tubes would be on every street corner, but no. Bring your own or you are stranded for days. All this stuff saved my bacon a few times. Kind of strange to most changing a headlight at 2AM on interstate 95 in Richmond, Virginia, or changing my own tube in the rear from a flat in Ft Lauderdale, FL in a Motel 6 parking lot, changing a burnt 20A fuse outside Chicago, and plugs on the side of The Pennsylvania Turnpike, running out of gas at least two times and simply fill with the can. This is what I did back in the day, now with modern motorcycles I don't take anything, but back with the KZs I took stuff with me and don't regret it one bit.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
