Been a while(maybe 2-3 years) since I logged on here I think. Sold the last(my avatar) KZ900 and built a very nice mid 11 second 1972 Nova. Sold the car and now I have a nice KZ1000 getting ready to be shipped from Tennessee to me here in Texas. Bike has had all this done and more :

"1980 KZ 1000 LTD, Bike was torn completely down to frame, cleaned, painted and every part replaced or repaired. I spent over 6K in parts and paint for this rebuild. Have all receipts. All work was done by me except for the paint. I had that done by WFO customs. I touched every nut, bolt and washer on this bike. All new gaskets and seals on the motor, carbs rebuilt, re-jetted with a Stage III Dynojet Kit and synced, progressive springs on the front, progressive shocks on the rear, Corbin gunfighter seat, CRG Hindsight Mirrors, new cables, calipers rebuilt, new pads, new front master cylinder, new wheel bearings and seals, new tires, new handlebars, new grips, all new rubber pieces for frame and pegs, new petcock, in line filters, K&N pod filters and crankcase filter, new sealed battery, new Accel coils, wires, and plugs, new fuel cap, grab handles, turn signals, new sprockets, new chain, horn, fork seals, tapered bearing upgrade on triple tree, new MTC pistons, new clutch, etc. too much to list, again I have all the paperwork."

Basically I got to have a small block camming or one of these old KZ's with a nice 4 into 1 header and maybe run the baffle out once and while(lol). This one has the Kerker 4to1 blacked out. Was looking for 76 and earlier, but found this one and fell in love.

Anyways wanted to drop a line and say Hi again and join in, Johnny

When emailing the owner I subject lined KZ900, he emailed back and says you know this is a 1000 right and I said yes. It's just I was looking into the KZ900s pre 76 and back when I found this bike.

He said he replaced tank, sidecovers, and rear panel. He is shipping the one side cover(sold one) and rear panel, clymer manual, all receipts, and a cd of the build. Said the pieces were in great shape, but the old tank was in bad shape so he switched and had the 78 paint scheme done.

So is this the MK II that had the more squared off type of gas tank originally?

I believe he is refering to the engine being a mk11 motor. The mk11 motors have the big crank and stronger cases and wider trans gears and a few other things that the earlier motors dont have.

1980 kz1000B4 LTD- 1327cc 9-1 comp
Ported J model head
Psp-3x cams
RS 36s
Welded MK11 crank
Back-cut MK11 trans
MTC 2 stage lock up
Stretched 4-6 over running Hayabusa rear rim with 190 rear tire
Complete frame brace kit installed
And Much Much more- SOLD

2014- ZX14R all stock for now

By the way my Son in Law's Dad works for Kawasaki in Lincoln, Nebraska. I want to say he has been there since around 1977, he might have worked on this bike. I have been at my same job since 77 also. :)

Bike is in Houston so I should get her today.

Called and they said it will be Tuesday or I can go and pick it up. I will wait as that is what I paid them for. They are about an hour from me as they are on the Northside of Houston. I am about a half hour south of downtown Houston.
