Does anyone have an extra 1015 cylinders? was created by peavylotus
I blew totaled my cylinders the other day, I was wondering if anyone had cylinders they would like to give away if I pay for shipping. Its a tall order to ask 'free' but I have no money and now no ride so I thought I would ask. Thanks

not bad, the pistons are fine and the head is fine. I have scrapes up and down each of my cylinders...I made a stupid rookie mistake. Low oil. But the bike billowed smoke like no other when I started it after the oil change. Took it apart and found the scrapes. I have a cylinder hone but I don't know if I should bore it up or replace the cylinders. The difference in cost is paying for the boring and that would only be 200 dollars according to people I have asked.

If you bore it youll need a piston kit also B)
Give me a few days for the snow to melt and Ill check and see if I can find a decent stock bore cylinder and pistons,We'll figure something out if I can find something. B)

That would really help, thank you. I found a 1175 piston kit for 140 with rings and pins on ebay. The low price drew me in to think about it and I have always wanted to get a engine bored. Do you know what the highest size tolerance of the cylinders for stock rings and pistons? Since I have nothing else to do, I can hone the cylinders until the marks are gone and check how much the ring gap changes from before and after and from that determine how much material I took off.

by the time you hone scratches out of a cylinder will have already basically done a small overbore the hard way and the pistons will have too much clearance,1075 is as far as you can safely go with the stock 1000 sleeves unless you want to run an 1105 kit which I don't recommend anyway. B)

well I will take your opinion to heart on this one and just replace the cylinders, Ill post mine on ebay for real cheap for someone wanting to bore a 1015 up or something. Whatever I make will probably go to you if you find you have a replacement available. I don't want to buy cylinders off ebay since its hard to guarantee quality used parts.

This is my cylinder, It is the same on all four if you were curious to see the damage

It is nice to belong to a group of riders like this group and others. Year before last after my wreck I had no extra money and a motor to rebuild. One rider from Illinois sent me a cylinder and another rider from Texas sent me some more parts I couldn't buy.

I have sent parts all over the world and just one rider failed to say thank you. I sent him a stator anda chrome cover. Go figure. I guess because it was free there was no thank you required. Roy

Yeah a 'thank you' is always in order and a return favor is to be credited if someone goes out on a limb for someone else. I totally agree. The people here are good guys to say the least.
