The engine block doesn't look at all like a Kawasaki. The Kaws have peaks in front and back where the DOH cams are located in the top end. The bikes in that pic don't.

I think what he's saying is the KZ head is much larger on top, whereas the CB is much smaller. The difference is two cams versus one.
The cam-cover part of the KZ head is larger than the fin part of the head, whereas the cam-cover part of the CB head looks smaller than the fin part.
It would be extremely difficult to make the KZ head look like a CB head purely due to size, even if you put a similarly shaped, fake, valve cover on the KZ, it would be so huge you could tell it wasn't a CB.

Here's what the z1 disguised as Honda's looked like. Doesn't look like they tried to cover up the motor. (Z1enterprise Jeff pointed out this photo)

From the same link:

I'm not convinced on these either. Did KZp's ever use Comstar wheels, and if so, why? Kaw was using Enkei's by 1977 (but not 5-spoke Enkei's).
They sure do look happy.

The hell with what they look like, they didn't make the 1000 until '76.
