Flyndrive wrote: So I finally heard back from the guy. The bike sounds like its in decent shape, but it's been sitting for about 10 years. I asked what he was wanting to get for it. He said around $1500. Which sounds pretty good, but I can't swing that kind of cash right now. So if anyone is looking...... I offered him $750 over the phone and he said he couldn't do that.

He's asking $1500 firm right now. I bet you could get it for $900-$1000. Sell the drag race parts and locate parts that would be correct for a street bike to replace them with.
This is if the engine isn't trashed.
Now, since we have a plethora of knowledge on this board about 1980 Z1-Rs  , let's ask the $64 question about how much a pristine/correct 1980 Z1-R would bring? Say one with a 4-1 header and smoothbores, or possibly factory 28mm pumpers.
I'm not asking lowball tire kickers this, so that leaves you out 650Ed... J/K

Of course the stock paint job helps the value a whole lot. See bids on this stock tank (small size tank) with stock paint and minor dent:

That '78 is not far from pristine, and is in great shape!!!! It should bring some good coin, on the level of, Shooooze, I may be way off, around 8-10k. Hard to find an original owner bike these days.
Good find 650ed.

a penny less than 8000 would not even be worth offering...and from there it is the sellers market....top of my head..8-11000 2012 $...ten years from now 25000.....but what do i know
