if you can get it for 15 you might FIND the cash.....limited number produced...cleaned and tagged it will double ...it is ruined for a sport ride imo....
Flyndrive wrote: So I finally heard back from the guy. The bike sounds like its in decent shape, but it's been sitting for about 10 years. I asked what he was wanting to get for it. He said around $1500. Which sounds pretty good, but I can't swing that kind of cash right now. So if anyone is looking...... I offered him $750 over the phone and he said he couldn't do that.

I agree, it is ruined, but not completely out of the picture just yet. If the frame could be put back right, you could salvage the bike.
He's asking $1500 firm right now. I bet you could get it for $900-$1000. Sell the drag race parts and locate parts that would be correct for a street bike to replace them with.
This is if the engine isn't trashed.
Now, since we have a plethora of knowledge on this board about 1980 Z1-Rs  , let's ask the $64 question about how much a pristine/correct 1980 Z1-R would bring? Say one with a 4-1 header and smoothbores, or possibly factory 28mm pumpers.
I'm not asking lowball tire kickers this, so that leaves you out 650Ed... J/K

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationOuch! :pinch: As a comparison here's an auction that shows what is actually being paid for a 1978 (not 80) Z1r that has been messed with only a little bit but could be set back to stock - original seat, airbox, and some other parts (but not the exhaust) go with it :
Of course the stock paint job helps the value a whole lot. See bids on this stock tank (small size tank) with stock paint and minor dent:

29 Apr 2012 23:03 - 29 Apr 2012 23:04That '78 is not far from pristine, and is in great shape!!!! It should bring some good coin, on the level of, Shooooze, I may be way off, around 8-10k. Hard to find an original owner bike these days.
Good find 650ed.

BlackZ1R, I've got enough, that is untill the new pole barn is finished and then I won't have nearly enough. Actually thinking about going tomorrow and look at another Z1R, been molested but it's still a real Z1R at heart.
