used to kill me a guy would come into the dealership with a ragged out IROC camaro 129,000 miles cheasy wheels and a god awfull cut up dash with a 3000.00 stereo thinking he had the rare Iroc with the 350 and it was worth 5 grand. Actually ACV'd around 500.00 bucks
but I dont think 500.00 will buy it I would like to know if you go look at it or what he thinks it's worth

people will come out of the woodwork to tell you stories and talk to you about it.
i can de-rake a neck and make it look like it had never been cut.
so it can be reversed,if desired.
buying it to turn a profit may not be the best deal.
buying it to have an awesome bike that turns heads and runs hard would be more worth it.
80 model z1r frames are stiffer than 78 z1r frames.
according to www.zedder.com/Info/80%20KZ1000-D3%20Z1-R.htm
there were 17291 1978 z1r's
and there were 3308 1980 z1r's
so the 1980 z1r is the rarer one.
i have three 1978 z1r's and 1 1980 z1r.
imho the 80 is the more valuable.
theres my .02 fwiw.
let us know if you buy it.

How much would you think he should offer Leon? Given that you have four, your opinion is going to carry the most weight.
rough call,it really depends on if he "wants it" or not.
if i wanted it and was looking for one i would not go over $2000.00.
i feel like $900-1500 would be a good price with it not starting and unknown engine.

If that was to come up for sale in Oz...you would expect to pay 3 to $4000 aud as is.
I guess I'm a bit biased owning one as such, but these are the sleepers of all the Z'ds and I believe they will attract big dollars in years to come.
"edit" also looking at that 1 for sale...it doesn't have the bigger tank that the Mk11 was famous for.
Try and buy 1 of them there tanks....I am lucky enough to have a spare.

These things are beginning to be like the '69 Camaro these days.
Leon, Les, and Oz have the right outlook on these bikes, and you guessed it, I am biased on this one myself  .
Being that the frame is wacked up and that it has a '78 tank on it does lower the value a good bit. The cut fender didn't help it either.
I would imagine a hopped up motor that's been wrung out a few times. High dollar RS34s don't bring that much resale now days. Prolly under $500.
If the frame wasn't cut, I would give $2000 for it if he garaunteed the engine wasn't trashed. Like it is, just what Leon said, $900-1500 would be good. IF the engine runs.
Hey OZ how's it going over there?
Les, how can you tell when you've got enough? I need to know real soon, I'm running out of room.... :silly:
