how in the hell do i do this?

Im sorry guys, i know i post alot of random stuff on here but i do have a really quick question.
My dad said when he was a kid, a family friend that owned a 70's KZ1000LTD took him for a spin up to stone park. My dad told me that he was going a good 50-60 miles per hour and was able to pull the front end up without any trouble at all. (no my dad wasnt a fat kid ) Anyways i was wondering if this was possible with a stock KZ1000. I dont have any problem pulling wheelies with my bike in 1st gear but i dont see how its possible in any other gear. My bike has stock sprockets and everything too so nothings out of wack with the gearing and my bike runs like a damn space ship so everythings good there too. No i dont plan on pulling wheelies all the time as i basically crap myself everytime i downshift and pull the throttle open but i wouldnt mind knowing how.

Fathers are great story tellers Tim Sometimes they spice it up a tad bit.

But, you can easily run 50 - 60 in second gear. You'd be twisting the tach needle pretty good. If you fan the clutch and give a tug on the bars, it's possible to raise the front wheel.

No brainer Tim.... :evil:

Getting the front wheel lifted is the easy part.

But setting it back down might prove more difficult.

in the mid 70's my brother had a Z1 and they were not the easiest wheelie machines but with me on the back he could ride a wheelie for blocks. those are some of my fondest memories as a teenager all the girls thought we were the shit!

it may have seemed like we were runnun 50 when he pulled in the clutch revved it and up we went very cool

and my blocks have turned into miles over the years. so run with it

Well before i go twisting the hell out of my throttle like that, im going to have to do my top end rebuild. Would hate to be on one wheel going 50 miles per hour and get an unwanted exhaust port in the side of my head. I guess spitting a shim is kind of a big deal with chattery valves. I remember my first wheelie though. I had a the prettiest girl in school on the back.. the best part is, i didnt mean to pull a wheelie scared the living hell out of both of us. At least i made her wear the helmet.

Just don't be trying any breakies; er I mean brakies........

Well tonight i did manage to get a crapload of work done on my bike. I guess it takes a good 4 beers to pull your bike out of the back of the garage and clean off the cobwebs. I fixed my clutch cable with some 60/40 tin solder as a patch for the warm day tomorrow. Smelled the gas in the tank and it wasnt old. put a battery in it, stuck a key in it, turned it on prime for a sec, pulled the choke out and she fired after about 7 cranks and rumbled like the thunder in the sky seriously guys, GOTTA LOVE YOUR FCKIN KZs... AM I RIGHT? i love that friggin bike. Anyways, the clutch lever seems pretty smooth and the little nub isnt kinking up in the lever so i think ill be good as far as getting to work tomorrow. Also Im in the process of wiring up a new spade fuse box for it too. Sick of desoldering fuses every time i use my horn. I'll let you guys know how the first ride of the summer goes.

Motocross bikes are an excellent tool for your riding skills. Maybe you already have a background on dirt. The best way to learn how to wheelie is on a dirtbike (nice & light) out in a soft grassy field somewhere. Always try to go out riding with someone who has more skills than you (you can learn tons this way). And expect to crash, this is a part of the learning curve, once you master offroad biking you can wheelie pretty much anything. It's an excellent platform for street riding and for AMA/GP track racing.... all the masters have backgrounds in dirt and flat track, Eddie Lawson / Scott Russell / ect. ect.

These big block Kaws are porky to say the least... its best to learn wheelies on something light yet has some snot to it.

Here are a few helpers

1. Always wear full gear
2. Never have any alcohol in your system
3. Never wheelie with a passenger

It's cool to see younger guys that are interested in the Z1 & KZ's
