Bought new shinko 712 tires in June and today almost exactly 2000 miles later the back tire is in shambles it is about a two piece tire by now I will post pictures later when I am not using an iPad my sneAker (vans) that I had tied fairly securely to the rack on the rear ended up between the tire sidewalk and the frame.
Sneaker vs tire=
sneaker 1
Tire loser by tko
I will invest in vans sneakers and walk before I get shinko tires if I want to save money
Vans sneakers are still working even though I will not walk in any puddles because the one will leak
I am still 80 miles from home this all started on Friday the thirteenth I got snowed in, if anyone is interested in hearing about it I think I will request a group therapy session for crappy time sharing I will keep you posted if I font an therapy kawch and a pshykawlogist
Goodnight all

Glad you're ok. Valuable lesson to all - buy tires (and tubes if applicable) like your life depends on them (it does). Ed

Don't get cheap or lazy with a bike. There are no mulligans or re-boots. My uncle used to say "The day you cheap fix or take your riding skills for granted, set the stand and walk away while you still can.".

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

Ok im good now I have Dunlop elite something or another tires on along with new rear brake pads. The old pads were microments (made up measurement that I made up much smaller than anything in existence) from the metal. 250 miles break in period was written on the package tells me to wait to do the front ones, they still have enough grab to make the bike do a nose dive every time that I use them.

well i made it frome shoreline, wa to olympia, wa on the dunlop
my speedometer stopped working right around seattle-cable? and right as soon as i was less than 2 exsits from the one to get to my place i got nailed for $206.00 for speeding 25mph over the speed limit so overall it has been a $600.00 150 mile road trip and i still havent even gotten new sneakers yet.
i should replace the front tire now i dont like the way the angle goes up from the sidewall to the middle of the treads it seems steep.
i am glad i took the back tire off because it gave me a chance to look at the brake pads that were down to the metal-i replaced those asap i need to do the front too most likely once i get some money coming in instead of out.
tow bill 200.00-tire 130.00-brake pads 30.00- speeding ticket 200.00- the money i saved on car insurance by riding a motorcycle= priceless

The shoe compound is a hell-o lot more abrasive/rigid than the compound the tire is made of, believe it or not. The heat generated must have been insane.

It wasnt the tires fault, it was your own. Dont give the tire a bad name.

People race on those tires.

Peace.

That tire failure looks to be caused by heat. (low tire)

I have had a few sets of Shinkos and i have found them to be decent tires, good wear, good tread depth, nice grip. I have gotten over 7000 miles on each set, except for one nail induced flat. Just because your sneaker was rubbing on the sidewall of the tire is no reason to knock the Shinkos, they are simply not designed to take abuse there. Any other tire, regardless of quality, that was subjected to the same treatment would produce the same results.
