Need advice.

A friend in Wyoming has a bike with no title.

It was last titled in Utah, and the former owner is deceased. He cannot reach out to the former owner to get a duplicate title, and sign it over to him.

Here in Oklahoma, you can get a Mechanic's lein, and be issued a title. It's complicated, and time consuming, but it can be done. There are actually services here that do all the legwork for 100-150 bucks. I searched Wyoming, though, and don't see anything like it.

Does anyone know anything about getting a title in Wyoming?

Thanks

Dont know about Wyoming. I just did one here in Wisconsin and had to post a Surety bond. Its basically an extra $100 in the whole titling fee buts it mine now. The bond assures that if a previous owner ever does come foreward he only has claim to the amount of the bond and no longer has claim to the bike. They only do this after a search for any previous owners.

Thanks for the response.

The thing is, every state is different, so I'm really hoping someone that knows specifically about Wyoming can help.

What bike is it?
Buy it. Try to title it.
If you can not.
Parts it out on ebay.
Most likly you can triple your investment.
As long as it had good parts, body, running engine, good chrome etc.
Just my opinion

...the best thing to do is go right to the horse's mouth and call the Wyoming DMV. They'll tell you exactly what you need to know and how to go about doing it. You can also visit their web site and get an idea of where the conversation will be going. www.dmv.com/wy/wyoming

...from their web site.
Transfer of Title Following Death of Vehicle Owner
In the event of the death of the vehicle owner, the title is often transferred to the heirs or someone else identified in the owner's will. The procedures and fees for this type of transfer are similar to those outlined above. In addition, it is important to determine how the estate of the deceased has been settled by the heir(s). In some cases, the heirs may need to provide copies of court orders, the death certificate and the will (or a notarized statement of its contents), if there is one. For more information on title transfers following the death of a vehicle owner, contact your local local county clerk's office.

here in utah
all you need to do is have a cop come by and inspect he bike and run the VIN (free). he makes sure its not stolen, and then you can just bring that in a get the title sent to you.
