Added another Kaw to the barn.

Went up to the Frozen Tundra (Green Bay, WI for the football challenged) Wednesday and brought back a KG1200, aka a Voyager XII. It's a '91 with almost 85k on the clock. A few dings and scratches, a couple of easily repairable cracks in the body work, a missing luggage cover but a great deal and it runs awesome. It's like a Lazy Boy on wheels. I'll keep the KZ1000 for short trips the Voyager XII for the road.

I had been looking for a KZP for long range riding, but they are pretty rare in WI. All the cops here ride hogs or horses. I wanted a kaw.

What an awesome awesome buy. Seriously sweet, looks babied.

It is in nice shape. It has a salvage title. I couldn't find anything wrecked when I rode it but after sitting on it for an hour and playing with the radio, I noticed the fairing is a wee bit cock-eyed, maybe 1/4" low on the right. It must have been in a crash and totaled by the insurance and then rebuilt. The PO bought it used at a dealer 7 years ago and put 35k miles on it including 6 trips to Sturgis with no issues. It tracked straight with no wobbles when I rode it, so I'm confident it was repaired right. I'll lay it bare this winter and see if I can straighten the fairing up while I inspect and service it. I'll think about a new paint color when I have it apart.

There are a lot of parts on eBay. I had one earlier this year for some work I was doing for a friend but took it back as I doubted the relibility of the mechanic that worked on it before.

I am seriously considering buying one in the spring. Roy

There's a guy, Carl Leo, who seems to be the Z1E of Voyagers for parts.He will probably have what I need, which wont be much I hope. I'll look at feeBay also. I rode a 4k mile trip last summer and after about 300 miles I was ready to get off the KZ1000. I decided then to find a true touring bike. I looked at a couple of 'Wings then saw a Voyager while riding one day. I searched the web, got more info and scrapped the 'Wing' thing. If you ride distances, this is the way to go.

Point out to wifey poo that some of the savings you realize when buying a Voyager rather than a 'Wing could be applied to some bling for her. Arm rests, intercoms and custom seats are available for her pleasure also.

Still no comments on the color. It's LAVENDER for cryin' out loud.

It's warm enough here in SE WI to ride today, I'm going to warm up my new sleigh.
