Whats it worth? was created by Boostable
Guy I work with has an all original 1976 KZ900. Motor was reworked 2 yrs ago, and honed, re-ringed and valve job. Everything else bone stock. I have not seen it yet, but suppose to be in really good shape, but he can't ride it anymore for health reasons.

Thoughts?

Hope it's an A4, that would be either green or brown with 4 into 4 pipes and wire spoke wheels. The B1 LTD is red or white, (actually came in only red, which faded quickly to white). Either one could be worth anything depending on condition. $5000 or more if really nice and not repainted. Most these type stories result in a big dissapointment at viewing some redone roach, but you never know.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Pretty sure its an A4. Knowing this guy, I would believe is has been well taken care of and I think he has had it for 15+ years and I think he said it only has 4K miles on it.

That sounds like it may have some promise except if 4000 miles it would not have needed engine work. Good luck. It would be very rare to find anything resembling an original A4 after all these years.

The explanation on the engine work, was it sat for 5 yrs in his garage, and he went out one day and try to start it and it was locked, so he had it gone through. I will get some pics and details and report back.

Good Luck. No ones buying anything. Put it up! Won't get $2,500.
Unless it's a local sale. And in original condition!
Economy killed it, and oinkjohnson ebay sales too!
Just my opinion!!
Unless you want it, then it could be worth up to 5 grand or 6.

Ok, here is some updates on this bike. Got some pics over the weekend. Here is what I see..

Obviously not original paint, Corbin Seat, (has original), Aftermarket pipe, maybe bansani? grips, and bars maybe? but everything else appears to be there.

Original owner, bought it new in 76. Bike has just over 14K on it.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

$1000 would be a good deal for you to buy it.

$3000 would be a good deal for him to sell it.

so maybe somewhere in between could be good for both parties.

thats my .02.

I would go $1500 if it runs and has a clear title in his name. If not running then half that. If no title then half again.

I like the way Testarossa thinks. It's definitely clean (relatively speaking), but depending on location, you never know which hoses may be dry-rotted, and how far in you'll have to replace the gaskets. By location I am thinking of the relative humidity, heat, and so on. But all in all, I'd go with their advice on price.

Asking price is 1200.. Bike has been garage kept since new, and runs. There is some seepage around carb bowls so they need some attention, but it looks pretty solid. I may pick this bad boy up!!!
