I have seen these ads posted in Houston CL for the past couple of months for a classic bike group that meets in Spring on Saturday nights. Well they have a website now that is obviously in it's very early stages: www.bikesnob.com/home.html

I was wondering if any of the Houston area guys had been to one of their meetings or has any knowledge of this outfit. I was thinking if they weren't shady that it might be a good place for the Houston KZR's to have a face to face. Looks like they have a meeting scheduled this Saturday from 6-9p at Starbucks on Spring Cypress Rd. Anyone familiar with the area will recognize this as the same spot where the usual Saturday Night car show always goes down. If I can get the time this weekend, then I may ride over there and check it out.

Looks like they are just starting up, they could use a link to KZR for their Kawasaki Restos.

The guy who is posting the ads says he rides a red 1975 KZ400. I would think he would be advertising here if he were a member. I'm gonna try and make a reconnaissance mission this weekend. Think I will be able to lay low if I'm riding the blue bike?

EDIT: I just emailed the guy to try and get a feel for what they are all about. I'm not trying to accidentally get mixed up with a group of 1%ers. I'll report back with my findings.

If you showed up on your Blue Bike there might be a lot of guys gathered around your bike, and hard to leave when you want to.

That would be a funny sight. Didn't think about that one. You just never know these days.

I have seen some local groups go up in flames around here, so I'm reluctant to just jump in with both feet.

Well I just got back from the first meeting, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. A couple of guys had z1's that were surviving, but a little rough. One guy brought in a 78 Z1-R that he had to push in the last 1/4 mile or so but it was all there just rough. The organizer had a really clean correct restored 75 KZ400. I got to meet one of the local guys that I know through the GSResources and he rode in on a CHERRY ELR. All original, survivor with 10,000 miles. Imagine that, a Suzuki guy has the coolest Kawasaki at the whole place. Also a Triumph Tiger 750 and a 77 Suzuki 175. I'll post pictures tomorrow. I gotta get to bed. Going fishing early tomorrow, but I'll get the pictures up when I get home.

We need to get the Houston KZR guys out for the next bike night. It should be about a month from now. I'll update later.

It's about time...I had sort of given up on any activity like 'bikesnob' in Houston. For being the fourth largest US city...there is almost no organized antique/collector motorcycle activity. Even the traveling motorcycle shows (e.g. hosted by Progressive and formerly by Cycle World) have dropped Houston as a venue. The local VJMC group folded...lack of interest.
