Engine Vin help was created by DoctoRot
I have a 1978 KZ1000 LTD. When I bought it I was told it had a 1980 engine in it. I found a thread on here discussing engine VINs and went to www.zedder.com According to this site I could either have the appropriate engine for a 78' LTD or it could be a 78 police engine or a 78 A2A. In any case it seems I have a pre-1980 engine, which is what I really needed to know, but I really want to be sure what model my engine is so I dont order the wrong parts for it. Any help here is appreciated

the frame is KZTOOB-513557

and the engine is KZTOOAE-068033

Am thinking engines in all 1978 KZ1000 models are the same.
Perhaps differences among carbs, and maybe ignitions.

Could compare parts on kawasaki.com where there's lots of good info, including parts diagrams, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc.
If needed, here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.

thanks Patton! I just wanted to be sure I had the engine right. I would not like to add more parts to the pile of ones I bought that are the wrong _______. Anyway hope to spend a good chunk of change tomorrow ordering parts :woohoo:
