Most sought after kawis?
13 Apr 2011 00:45 - 23 Apr 2011 20:45
what bikes are the most desirable when it comes to the kawis? gpz's and back. lets see some opinions on what models sell for more than others, and or, what models are most "exstinct".

You guys overlooked the tripples....
The 750's 500 triples are worth big $$$
In good shape they regularly sell in the $5,000-$8,000 range really nice ones with the right pipes bring even more.
Complete basketcases can still sell for $2,000

Z1 of course, then Z1A and Z1B. They only made about 88,000 of em.
Then 1/4 got wrecked, then a 1/4 turned into dragbikes, now an 1/8 have been dismantled on ebay.
Leaving not that many on the road today, there are probally more put together as "muts" with mixed and aftermarket parts than original.
Then they mass produced the KZ900 drum brake (thinning out) and the KZ1000. Plenty of them around
I am hoping the economy rebounds and the 1976 KZ900 is the next sought after model.
I have 2 of them project bikes. Which I will eventually sell off.
If you have been watching ebay lately, all the Z1 & KZ parts are coming down. Except for wiseco pistons! And bolt in .400" cams. Man they are up there!
Just my opinion

I just bought a set of NOS APE K410's for $150, but I don't think that the seller quite knew what he had.

The 74 KX250's (first year) can fetch $5000. I'm calmly looking for a 75 KX250 to restore and race vintage class.
KX400's and 420's are rare and can bring alot of dough in good shape. Hard as balls to find parts for.

The owner of that R1 on Ebay is a close and personal friend. That R1 sat in storage for 20 years at a Kawi dealership. I actually had the pleasure of sitting on it ! GORGEOUS completely original R1 ! The mint GPz in my profile pics was his as well. He sold it to me as a favor and I restored it. I worked at his Kawi dealership for 12 years.

True...I don't think in terms of the triples (never got the bug), but you are right, they do bring big bucks. Another Kawasaki model you never see for sale is the Z2P...apparently only made 34...there is a fellow in Japan who has frame VIN Z2P00001...who knows what that would be valued at.

And about 10-12 years ago the last 6 or so went for $8000 US each. Right from Muzzy's mouth, they could hardly get rid of them...
